Ethan Sieg

Ethan Sieg or the "S" of S&R Pork is a Rochelle native. Ethan has years of experience in raising poultry and goats, but never had any interests in raising hogs. That changed when Brian offred him five free piglets. Ethan enjoyed raising them so much that he wanted to start a breeding operation. Ethan is extremly passionate about diversified farming. Ethan still plans on raising chickens and goats in addition to the pigs and plans on adding sheep in a few years as each species utilizes different areas of pasture. Ethan has his A.A.S in Agriculture from Parkland Community College and working on his B.S. in Agribusiness Management from Illinois College.

Brian Richert

Brian Richert or the "R" of S&R Pork is from Tinley Park a suburb in Chicagoland. He fell in love with farming and pigs when he saw the movie Babe as a child. While at Illinois State University Brian used piglets from the ISU Farm, where he works, for a fundraiser. He offered these piglets to his friend Ethan after the event. When Brian reached out to Ethan about breeding pigs, Ethan had already began planning and S&R Pork was born. Brian believes that raising pigs on the ground can not only improve meat flavor, but soil health as well. Brian hopes to have his own farm someday and expand S&R Pork to that location as well as partner with other farms who share the same values and practices as S&R Pork. Brian will graduate from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Animal Science and plans to get his Masters.
